Boards or cants are conveyed sideways under the scanner.
Their profile is analysed by optical sensors under a gantry installed over (and possibly on another gantry fixed under).
Spacing of the sensors depends according to the accuracy of analyse necessary along the board.
The central unit treats all measurements to digitalised the board profile and to determine the useful surface of the board.
The computer optimises the sawing patterns, orientates the board or the cant in front of the edger and sends the saws' positions to the setting system.
Advantages
Speed and accuracy combination
Measurements worked out at full speed
Insensible to the external environment
Fast and easy installation
Easy maintenance
Detection of the wane whatever its shape and slope
Number of points of measurements and cost, adjustable according to needs
Operating interface
Colour touch screen (under Windows)
Visualisation of the board and result of the optimisation
Selection of the criteria for the optimisation (type of species, sawing patterns...)
Display of operating failures
Test of systems
